Longhouse for the People

First Foods

The Longhouse First Foods Project is an effort to restore Indigenous foodways to our land and community.

By planting native plants and learning the traditional methods of growing, processing and serving them, we hope to create a vibrant space for recovering and celebrating local food relationships and understandings.

So far we have prepared the land and begun planting kwala (camas), chocolate lilies, and nettles.

The Longhouse First Food Project is accepting donations of native plants and you can sign up on our email list for updates about work parties and events.

Through community encounters, workshops and seasonal events, we will be feeding our people and sharing our first foods, knowledge and connection with others.
